Fire Alarm Systems to BS 5839 - Part 1 : 2002
Typically:
Installation or Modification of a new or existing Fire Alarm system.
From:
Conventional Fire Alarms systems where detection devices are wired in
zones, e.g. basement (zone 1), ground floor (zone 2), and first floor
(zone 3).
If a Smoke/Heat Detector or Call Point is activated the fire alarm will
activate. The panel will then indicate which zone has been activated.
To:
Analogue Fully Addressable Fire Alarm systems where detection devices
are wired in loops incorporating zones.
Each device is given an address
e.g. 25. When the commissioning is complete the panel is programmed
and each address is given a label, so for example 25 would be "Manager’s
Office". If that device is activated then the fire alarm will activate
and the panel will display "FIRE - Manager’s Office".
Test and Commission, then provide Certification and Log Book for the
end user responsible for the management of Health and Safety.
